With another star actor (Cüneyt Arkin), the rural movie “Eskiya Halil / Haydut”, which he thinks may be more commercial, has the opportunity to show and distribute for the first time in 1968. In the same year, Heper made his last film “The Pain of the Blackbattal”, which focused on the East-West conflict. The film tells the story of a Turkish lad who was wrongly executed by accusing of killing a young Greek girl who was working on the repair of the Byzantine Castle. Alp Zeki Heper, a truly independent and highly valued Director, could not reach the cinemas and the audience due to the rejection of the distributors at that time, and because of his control and his own content and self-complexity. Heper is forced to quit cinema after three years of frustrated and cursed cinema adventure and after a long discomfort and years of disappointment, he burns and burns all his books, pictures and movies in front of the mansion where he lives in Yeniköy.
